NRDC: House Majority Puts Head in the Sand with New Appropriations Bills

WASHINGTON  – With a climate-fueled heat wave creating emergency conditions across the nation, the House Appropriations Committee majority decided to release government appropriations bills that would inflict reckless spending cuts, halt efforts to fight climate change – and undercut work to conserve our public lands, waters, and endangered species.

The following is a statement from Kyle Jones, director of federal affairs at NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council):

“When will the madness end? Millions of Americans have been living through an unprecedented heat emergency, but these members of Congress are choosing to side with Big Oil to the detriment of their constituents.

“The House majority should stop politicizing the future, listen to the American people instead of polluters, and work across the aisle to write serious legislation that supports – rather than cuts – the vital federal environmental programs that are needed now more than ever.”
