Margaret Brown leads the Equity & Community Partnerships team, which works with the Oceans, Lands, and Food & Agriculture teams to center partnerships with frontline communities, pass equitable policies, and measure for equitable impact in NRDC’s work. Brown joined NRDC in 2012 and has focused much of her career at the intersection of food and agriculture, the environment, and racial justice. Working with NRDC colleagues and close external partners, she has helped pass a landmark food donation and food recycling act in New York, improve school meals for millions of low-income children across the country, provide legal support for small farmers and farmers of color, increase the availability and affordability of healthy, local foods, and advance policies that address racial disparities in agriculture. Brown is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin–Madison and New York University School of Law. She is based in NRDC’s Washington, D.C., office.
