Joe Thwaites

Joe Thwaites works on international climate policy to scale up funding for developing countries, shift finance to be aligned with the Paris Agreement’s goals, and reform international financial institutions to be more effective and equitable in supporting climate action. Before joining NRDC, he worked as a climate finance associate at the World Resources Institute for eight years. He has also worked for non-governmental organizations on European Union climate and energy policy in Brussels and on UN conflict prevention and disarmament policy in New York. Thwaites has a master’s in global environmental policy from American University and a bachelor's in politics from the University of York. He is based in NRDC's Washington, D.C., office.
