Irene Gutierrez
Irene Gutierrez protects our oceans by promoting sustainable fisheries, fighting illegal fishing practices, preventing dirty energy development, and supporting policies to curb climate change. Prior to joining the Oceans division, she was an attorney on NRDC’s Climate and Clean Energy team, where she fought against administrative rollbacks and advocated for clean transportation and climate-friendly policies. She was previously an attorney at Earthjustice, where she litigated against various fossil fuel infrastructure projects, and a litigator at a major international law firm. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a J.D. from University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She is based in NRDC’s San Francisco office.
